Information we use
You may give us your name, email address, telephone number, collection address, access instructions, item descriptions, photographs and preferred dates. If you book, we also use the information needed to arrange the work, issue invoices and keep relevant waste-transfer records. Please avoid including people, identity documents or unrelated private information in photographs.
Hosting and security systems process technical details such as IP addresses, browser information and requested pages. With your permission, Google Analytics processes page visits, device/browser information and simple contact-button events.
Why we use it
- Enquiries, quotations and bookings: to take steps at your request before a contract and perform the agreed service.
- Business records and duty-of-care paperwork: to meet applicable legal obligations.
- Security, customer service and resolving problems: our legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable business, balanced against your rights.
- Optional website analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw using Cookie settings.
This website does not enrol you in marketing or make automated decisions about you.
The photo-quote starter
The quote starter formats your enquiry on your device. Optional photo previews stay in memory on that device; the website does not upload them, save a booking or send a message automatically. Opening WhatsApp passes the prepared text to WhatsApp; opening email passes it to your email app. Previewed photos are not automatically attached. Add your photos in your chosen app, review the message and decide whether to send it.
If your device supports sharing photo files, you can use Share selected photos and choose the recipient in your device’s share sheet. WhatsApp (provided by Meta) and your email provider process information under their own arrangements. See WhatsApp’s privacy policy. Information you send then reaches the team’s business WhatsApp account or mailbox. Avoid photographing people or unrelated personal information.
Service providers and sharing
Hostinger hosts our production website and business email service. Google provides consented Analytics and our Business Profile. The typeface is hosted locally; visiting the site does not request a font from Google. Your own email provider processes messages you send. We share job information with the people and service providers needed to carry out the agreed collection, and with authorised disposal facilities or authorities where relevant to waste records or a legal requirement.
We do not sell personal information. Some providers may process data outside the UK. Their applicable data-processing terms describe the locations and safeguards, including approved contractual protections where required. See Google’s privacy information and Hostinger’s privacy information.
How long information is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to answer them and manage any follow-up. Booking, invoicing and waste records are retained for the applicable business and legal record-keeping periods; information needed for an unresolved complaint or claim may be kept until it is resolved. We review records and remove information that is no longer needed.
Google Analytics user/event data uses the property’s two-month retention setting; this does not govern aggregated reports. Our analytics cookies last up to six months, and your cookie choice is remembered for six months. Provider security logs have their own retention arrangements.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the purpose and lawful basis, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact hello@shiftitsurrey.co.uk; we may need proportionate information to confirm your identity.
You can raise a concern with us or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Some rights have legal exceptions, for example where records must be retained.
