What does this service include?
Remove an unwanted mattress, bed base or frame with the carrying arranged in advance. Tell us the size, condition and floor level.
What can be collected?
Single, double and larger mattresses; Divan bases and bed frames; Headboards quoted by material; Bed-and-mattress combinations. Acceptance and scope are agreed before booking.
What cannot be collected?
Asbestos, toxic or contaminated material, chemicals, clinical waste, gas bottles, explosives and unknown liquids are excluded from ordinary clearance. Specialist appliances, upholstered items and heavy materials must be identified and accepted separately.
How does collection work?
Send item and access photos with your full postcode. We assess the load and receiving requirements, agree a quote and collection slot, then carry and load only the agreed items from safe access points.
How should I prepare?
State mattress size and number of items. Show the bed base, headboard and stairs. Mention stains, damp or any handling concern. Do not move a heavy or unsafe item just to take a photo.
Do I need to be present?
You or an authorised person should confirm the items and provide access. An unattended collection must be specifically agreed in advance, with safe access and an unambiguous remove list; do not assume it is available.
What access information is needed?
Give the mattress size, floor level and lift dimensions. Photograph the base separately, including storage drawers or an attached headboard.
What affects the price?
The mattress and base are separate pieces. Condition, weight, stairs and the receiving facility charge affect the quote; one mattress is not automatically priced as a van load.
What happens after collection?
A mattress has different treatment needs from upholstered seating. Ask about its receiving route; do not assume the same rules or charges as a sofa.

Does a mattress count as a whole van load?
Not automatically. The quote depends on the item, disposal requirements, handling and access, not just whether it is a single piece. Send photographs for an item-specific assessment.
What alternatives should I consider?
Check mattress-retailer take-back before arranging another collection. Your council may accept a mattress but require wrapping and outdoor presentation.

A mattress, divan base and headboard are separate pieces. Give the bed size and show storage drawers or bulky frames so we can understand the whole collection rather than quote for the mattress alone.

Keep it dry and accessible
Wet mattresses can be harder and heavier to handle. Keep the item sheltered where possible and do not block a communal corridor or fire escape. Ask before carrying it outside if you need help from upstairs.

Check take-back when replacing a mattress
A new-bed retailer may offer removal as part of delivery. Compare what is included with a separate collection, especially if you also need other furniture removed at the same time.
